Guest guest
Hi I had an MRCP with contrast at Mayo about 2 weeks ago. I believe they gave me Feridex (contrast) 30 minutes prior and then I was also hooked up to a pump during the procedure, which I think they said was Gadolinium. I had also sent another MRCP (without contrast from Mt. Sanai) I had on disc up to Dr. Gores prior to my Mayo appointment. He had the results of that one and the newer one up on his computer when I went in for my appointment with him. The short of it was that he said the MRCP done without contrast was very fuzzy and really of not much value. He showed me the difference between the earlier one and the new one with contrast and it was really remarkable in my case. Jeff in FL PSC 1989 Hi it is me newbie asking another question. Went today to Columbia for my first MRCP. The first part of the test was complete and then the nurse gave me an iv with contrast but when they had me in the MRI tunnel and turned on the pump to run the contrast my arm blew up and they had to stop the test. I guess she didn't get the IV in the vein. My GI doc said he spoke with the radiologist and he didn't see any of the dilated intrahepatic ducts that were seen at Mt.Sinai. I have an appointment with a hepatologist at Cornell/Columia to review everything. I read the MRPC is a good test for this disease. Do you think getting one is enough or is it important to have the contrast medium to see things?? I guess I will forward the results and cd rom to the hep. and see if he wants anything else.
