Guest guest
Has anybody in this group ever tried this diet for crohns or colits? I was curious about thoughts on it. Thanks, Cheryl
Guest guest
Hi Cheryl I did some reading on this after one of my co-workers told me about it. I even tried some of the recipes in the book. As I'm mostly medically well-managed and asymptomatic for UC, I didn't find it really made a difference. However, having been later tested for food intolerances, I'm following mostly a gluten-free diet instead and that does seem to help with itching that was exacerbated by foods I was eating. My co-worker who told me about the SC diet said that her dad who did have success with it said it meant the difference between not being able to visit her or not. She lives about a 45 min. drive away and he was unable to travel for that amount of time without needing to use a washroom. She did comment, though, that her mom was instrumental in ensuring he was compliant with the diet as it involves a fair amount of prepping. There's also the issue of cost as almond flour seemed to be the main ingredient used for many baked goods.
