Guest guest
Did you dry the grain after sprouting? This must be done before grinding in my experience, especially with a whisper mill grinder. Just spread it out in a low heat oven or dehydrator till dry, then grind. It clumped together and wouldn't feed into my mill. Then, after I solved that by pulsing it in the food processor to break up the clumps, it fed through the mill just fine, but then orange smoke began pouring out the filter, and the flour looked burnt. The grain was thoroughly dry. Does anybody have any idea how I can grind my sprouted grain? My mill is a Whisper Mill, the micronizer type. Guest guest
Oops, just reread your post where you said it was dry. If it was thoroughly dry it should of worked. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bonnie Sue Sent: Monday, May 06, 2002 10:04 PM Subject: Sprouted grain I sprouted some wheat recently, but when I tried to grind it, there was a big problem. Guest guest
I just did this for the first time and it worked great. I can't imagine it clumping on the first grind without moisture. I dry mine in a 150 degree oven for a whole day. I have a kitchenaid mill which probably isn't the best, but it worked great. Is it clumping on the first grind or on a successive grind? Mine clumps if I try to grind a second time to get it finer. I have to pour it slowly onto the auger so that it doesn't stick together. That's a major hassle so I always grind just once. However, my machine does get warm and I have to stop every once in awhile to let it cool down.
