Guest guest
Hi, I've had a ongoing problem with my provider discussing my child's case with others, specifically my aide and others, along the lines of offering my aide another case telling her and others that with the changes going on, that my case is uncertain and that she may even not be able to be paid if she continued on with my case. they have done this numerous times without disscussing these issues or concerns with either me or her support coordinator first. when i confronted the angency about this behavior they stated that they could disscuss my hours to anyone they please without having to disscuss them with me or my support coordinator first as hours aren't protected by privacy laws like other issues. I always understood that my case and hours are mine and my child's and if there are any concerns or problems they be disscussed between myself, the parent/guardian to whom the hours are allocated to, and my support coordinator. that i shouldn't have to hear about it after the agency puts my aide into a panic that her hours are being cut or done with, MAYBE,and here is another case she should look into, just in case... i took a lot of time training this girl and she is dependable and capable of handling my child's many complex medical issues with ease. i hate that whenever there are changes the first reaction of the agency is to put my aide into a panic about my case while offering her another case, (without even telling me first), rather than disscussing them with me and my support coordinator first and waiting while me and my support coordinator resolves the issues. I've already been told that the agency of persons with disabilities is who i should contact and the advocacy center for persons with disabilities but i was wondering is there not any law that anyone can alert me to that would protect me from this kind of behavior in the future? I've already contacted my support coordinator and i have fired Angel Services and am shopping around for another agency. but i was always under the impression that such behaviors from an agency was wrong even illiegal. Has anyone ever gone through this sort of behavior before? What does one do about it? and can an agency disscuss freely my case and hours to others without disscussing them with me first, as they stated there at Angel Services? I feel very violated and when i start with a new agency i want it made clear that my case and hours be disscused first and foremost with me and my support coordinator and NOT AFTER the agency is disscussing them first to my aide after offering my aide another case to replace mine. please let me know if anyone has gone through this before and what you have done about it. i really want to be informed about what my rights are and what are the agency's responsibilities are and what the process of complaints are and which laws protect me and my child so i can be prepared and informed and prevent another agency from behaving in the same manner. Guest guest
I know where we live in Area 8, everyone knows everything. When I call to get new providers they already know who my son is and tell us they can't work with us. I thinks its disgraceful that they share our family story and our children's lives with everyone. When my son's case goes before the LRC (local review committee) it is not just his support coordinator the behavior analyst there presenting it, behavior analysts and support coordinators from numerous agencies are there. Its worse than a rumor mill at high school. I have also found unfortunately that if you fire someone, word will spread and there is like a code that no one else will work with you. Area 8 sucks, I hope your area is better.
