Guest guest
Hello everyone! My name is Tina Schneider, and I am a post-doctoral fellow who provides counseling services. I have 10 years experience with home-based behavioral-based programs working with children with autism. I plan to be an independently licensed psychologist in Ohio soon. I am trying to obtain experience in the area of counseling for families/parents who have children with autism, and when appropriate, counseling for children with autism (for example, social skills training, coping with anger, depression, anxiety, etc...). My questions are the following: For those of you who currently obtain these types of services, in what settings do you obtain these services? What kind of funding is used to pay for these services? Who is the primary person who obtains these services (for example, the individual(s) with autism, the parents, the siblings)? The reason for my inquiry is that I am trying to establish the availability of these services with my current place of employment, and I am interested in finding out the best way to go about this, so I can be well-informed. You can send me a message on facebook or e-mail me at s004tmp@... with any information you might find helpful for me. Thank you in advanced for your support. Guest guest
Tina, Broward county public schools offer couseling to students on the spectrum during school hours. There are numerous problems with this, of course, as the student will miss periods when receiving counseling. Many parents do not want counseling because of this even when they know that the child could benefit from it. Family counselors cover several schools and receive their salaries from Broward County Schools. You should contact our school district rather than the public to get updated and correct info.
