Although I didn't go totally blind, I did lose almost all of my night vision prior to transplant and recovered it right after tx. Initially vitamin A supplements helped control the blind spot (scotoma) - and adding vitamin D helped for a while - but the scotoma gradually grew to occupy most of my visual field at night - couldn't see any stars, but the mooon was still in the sky at night. Just prior to transplant I was in the process of increasing vitamin supplements to try and get blood levels up to normal range, but because of concerns of over doing it, that was an iterative process and had not gotten to the point when I had normal levels before the transplant call came. When this happened I did some literature searches but found nothing relating liver disease and vision. I wonder if our doctors would be interested in publishing something. Of course this is quite different from the uveitis that Noah was diagnosed with, but it is another issue with vision.
