Guest guest
Hell all, I just wanted to introduce myself to the group and just drop a few lines on how I am starting to cope with this affliction. I will start off with a bit about me.... My name is and I reside in Illinois and I am a recent divorcee. So far it has been a roller coaster of a ride ever since my divorce and now I have one more thing to add to the pile of things I have going on in my life. I am a full time student and I also work full time so I have a busy scheduale and sometimes it I find it very hard to make it through the day with in the last few months. I put out a few pics of myself so all of you can put a facwe with the writings and conversations. The reason why I am putting out this post is because I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and well it really sucks to have to do this one on my own...people just don't understand how one person can be in so much pain with out explanation. I also have RA and I been doing a lot of reading on both subjects and I have come up with a bit of theory that may help some of you all. I noticed that there is a link (well with me there is) with a potassium deficiency. So I have set out to see what would happen and so far, it has been 4 days since i started this little routine in the morning to just eat a banana a day and so far it has had a great relief to the pain that I have had for the last couple months. The first day I noticed a slight improvement and I was able to sleep better and not to mention that I did not feel so lethargic. Day 2: I noticed a bigger difference, almost a calmer feeling through out my body and even more less of a pain. I was More awake and alert at the job with little to no hard times on concentrating on tasks. Also i took less pain relievers then I have been normally. I have been on pain pills for about 4 weeks and every 4 to 6 hours I had to pop more just as if I was popping m & m's. Day 3: Woke up as if I could take on the world....little to no pain and I only had to take pain relievers twice this day...mood has over all improved and this has been one of the best days since I started this little experiment on myself. I did notice that by the end of the day the aches and minor pains were moderate, but nothing I couldn't handle with a couple Tylenol's. Day 4: So far so good.... I small aches and pains, but over all still a good day. Now I know that this might not be for everyone but I did want to share all of this information with you and maybe it might help you. I think I am going to see I will fair for the rest of the week on the this simple plan....then next week i will stop the plan and see what happens. So far I have dis proven the theory an apple a day and replaced it with a banana a day.

Your info on bananas is very interesting and since I know that I have a problem with my potassium staying normal...it will drop dangerously low without me even knowing it, until I happen to have some other thing send me to the ER...I will give your banana a day a try. Are you by any chance a student at SIU? I only ask because that's my alma mater and I can't wait until we move back to So. Illinois this spring. The bit about eating bananas sounds interesting and I wonder if that may be one reason I feel a bit better when I see that my husband has brought home a few -- I think I eat more of them than he does. Anyway, you will find this to be a very good group and one that is very supportive --- so many of us have similar problems and I have found it a wonderful place to come for support and also to let off some steam --- or as Debra said earlier Yelling. Guest guest
Hi , Greetings and welcome. Banana a day, huh? Well, why not. Worth a shot and good for you too. Had one myself this morning. Did two loads of laundry and made the beds. LOL! Maybe something to the theory. The last couple of days I have been eating tons or oranges as well. Not for anything, but just cause Honeybelles are in season. Potassium in those as well. Hmmmmm? Bummer about the divorce. Been thorugh one myself. Not pretty, but worked out for the best in the long run. Don't get down on yourself. Things seem to be ganging up on you right now, but just take one day at a time (bad cliche here). These folks here will help you out. Ruthie > > Hell all, > > I just wanted to introduce myself to the group and just drop a few > lines on how I am starting to cope with this affliction. I am a native of So. Illinois but lived in Chicago for 10 years. Originally lived not far from Western Avenue and and then my ex and I bought a building in Wicker Park --- I won't say it was pleasant being one of the one of the pioneers while that neighborhood was at the beginning up it's changes! Then, we bought a 3 apartment greystone in Humboldt Park --- just a short distance from the other building but a really major change --- the head of the Latin Kings supposedly lived across the street, I watched a gang rumble one Sunday --- strange, no one on the street but the " soldiers " standing watching and someone running back and forth with what had to be guns in brown paper bags. Calls to the police didn't do much --- they had busted a rumble the night before at one of the school play grounds and seemed to not pay much attention that Sunday! I also watched the little kids run out to the cars from the burgs to take their drug orders, go back with the order and then take the product and collect the money! Of course, they also used little kids as the watch outs for the cops and they used various whistles, noises as alerts that the cops were on the way! It was not fun!! But it did look much safer in the summer of 2006 while we were in the city for the King Tut exhibit. I don't know which is my favorite city, Chicago or Kansas City -- I have lived in Sioux Falls, San , Worcester, MA, Northwestern PA small town, a Philadelphia suburb, Pittsburgh, St. Louis and San . But we have decided we are going back home to So. Il. when my husband retires in June. We can get to Nashville in about 4 hours, St. Louis in 3 hours, the Saluki Train to Chicago in 6 to 8 hours and also Kansas City in about 8 hours --- we have family in St. Louis, so we can break it up into two day drive. Good luck at Northwestern!
