HI Marti, Jeanne, Debra V and all,

My radiation iodine treatment will be held at a local imaging center

this time. Regulations recently changed to allow that. My treatment is

Feb 19 at 1pm, which means I will be off my thyroid med a few more

days. This way my treatment won't mess up a weekend with my husband.

The treatment is only supposed to take an hour according to the general

schedular. Tomorrow will call the facility and find out what is

involved there. Am so glad I won't have to be in the hospital.

hugs,

Debbie J

Woo hoo! And here I was telling her about my old kitty Frisky, who

had the radioactive iodine treatement back in '99. Frisky had to

stay at the kitty hospital for a whole week. They had catnip toys

for her, and kitty TV to watch. They had a window where you could

stand and see the kitties in their cages. Frisky was kicked back in

her cage, watching TV, looking content.

I suggested that Debbie take some catnip mice to the hospital with

her, but I guess she doesn't have to now. ;D ;D

Debbie - That's wonderful news. Hopefully it will be simple and quick. How

soon after treatment can you go back on your thyroid med?

Hi Jeanne,

Just got finished talking with someone in the nuclear medicine dept at

that imagining center. She said I will most likely be there 2hrs with

paperwork and all first. Also said it was up to my doctor as of now. My

endo wrote I can start back on my med after treatment. So hopefully the

next day. Probably will have to board Taffy at our vet to keep her safe

after my treament.

Debbie J.,

I would board the pet just to be safe, you know? I had that done

years ago and they had a list of precautions, of course medicine has

come a long way since 1987! Glad you'll be able to go back on the

thyroid med. You don't realize just what a vital part it plays unless

you cannot take it for any reason for an extended period of time!

And I'm sure it's been aggravating your fibro.....

((Hugs))

Thanks Darlene,

I want to board Taffy but my husband thinks that will be too hard on

her. He thinks I should just shoo her away if she comes near me! Taffy

is very affectionate so that will be hard to do. Am familiar how far

medicine has come since the 70's or later.

Yes, being off my thyroid med does aggravate my fibro.
