Guest guest
The best thing to do for your daughter is a combination of a social story written in language that is at your daughter's level. The story should contain lots of pictures including ones of your daughter and places and items that she is familiar with. I'm not a fan of generalized materials because, as you have found out, they are not individualized enough so the person doesn't really gain anything out of it. This especially goes for individuals with lower language processing abilities. So give it a stab. Write your own little story about what is going to happen when your daughter gets her period. Put in pictures of your daughter, sanitary napkin products, and simple directions of what you expect her to learn to do in reference to changing her pads. Next, start practicing with her. Get some napkins and have her wear them as a "practice" for when she gets her period. She needs to get use to the feeling of the thing. (I'm guessing you don't want to do tampons quite yet?) If you need help, just email me at info@... and I will answer any question you have on the subject. Herskowitz, MA CCC-SLP
Guest guest
I have made a few stories using Shutterfly to create books. It has been a great tool. I would be happy to share if anyone is interested in seeing them. From: sList [mailto:sList ] On Behalf Of walkman975@...
