I'm interested in hearing about other's experiences with this med.

My 7 yr-old son started Intuniv 9 days ago. We are replacing Daytrana which

worked well for us the past year. Our cons for Daytrana were:

-stimulant

-appetite suppressant (my son is already underweight and not a big eater)

-some hyperactivity, esp. the first 2 hours after patch application

We didn't see much the first week, other than increased appetite, increased

afternoon and early evening sleepiness, and some inconsistent focus and

attention (worse than when on Daytrana). We also saw some increased stimmy

behaviors starting on day 6. We increased his dose to 2 mg 3 days ago. He has

been falling asleep every afternoon and we expect this to continue for another

week or so. Our dr. says her patients outgrow this within 3-4 weeks. He is

still exhibiting some stimmy behaviors, but we are hopeful they will decline

over the next 2 weeks as he adjusts to the new med.

So we have to wait another few weeks before we will know whether this will be an

effective replacement for us.
