Guest guest
This is for anyone who has had kids... Since I had Caleb 5 weeks ago (wow) I have been applying my emu oil like always for everyday inflammation and lubrication (due to lichen planus), and a tiny bit of my estradiol as well. Things were ok - I mean, understandably tender, and itchy around mt stitches but not bad for natural childbirth! But tonight when I was putting on my stuff, I felt something funny..checked with my trusty hand mirror and am freaking out a bit. There's this big sort of flap of skin, or not really a flap but a piece of skin hanging out of my vagina! It's right at 6 o'clock, right above the stitches. It's so weird looking! I can push it back in with my finger but it plops right out again...help! Oh and keep in mind that I don't have inner labia due to atrophy. Don't know if that has something to do with this. Has anyone else had this? Should I move up my follow up appointment and get looked at? Is this my LP getting worse and causing more atrophy....*panic* Melinda
Guest guest
My first thought was that the " flap " is your inner labia regenerating itself because of the estradiol or possibly the emu oil. Let it all hang out. But you should get it checked. Guest guest
Melinda, OMG! Cant believe it has been 5 weeks already. It does go by fast. I am 10 days away from delivering. The flap is the hymen. I have the same thing. It shouldnt cause pain though. It is just that a flap of skin. My comes out sometimes and it goes right back in. My VVS doctor told me all about it and said it can be removed if it bothers you...if it doesnt bother you then I wouldnt worry about it. Hope this helps! Guest guest
I hope that it is just hymen, but it seems too large/prominent for that. I think it may be a prolapse or rectocele. =( But it doesn't hurt so I am going to try to hang in there - my 6 week postpartum checkup is next week as well as my first postpartum pelvic physical therapy appointment so between those I should be able to get more info. It just freaks me out. Thanks for the replies... Melinda=)
