Guest guest
I was incredibly skeptical of NAET when I was first introduced to it in 1998. Desperate, yet skeptical I decided to try it since nothing else was working for my pollen allergies and I had ended up in ER several times. I had tried Western methods, GF/CF diet, raw foods diet, homeopathy, acupuncture etc. I spent $500 on NAET and when we eventually got to clearing pollen I gave it two days and ran out an ate some bee pollen to test it. It made me incredibly dizzy and warm in the head and ears. I didn’t mention that indiscretion to my doctor. She tested to see if pollen had cleared and she said it hasn’t cleared brain yet. When I told her my story she scolded me and told me I could have seriously hurt myself, I needed to wait until we knew I was clear. After I was clear I repeated the test (which weeks before would have ended me up in ER – yes I was younger and rather stupid for doing that) and I had no adverse reactions. So the next pollen season came and for the first time in years I didn’t need my allergy meds. I was drug free. Interestingly enough, six years later when I moved to Sweden I did have severe pollen allergies there. I believe their Nordic plants weren't in our pollen vials. At any rate, as a therapist working with Autism I make it my job to continue researching causes, and modalities that appear effective and why. I have seen some modalities do magic for one child and nothing for another. In my humble opinion, we’re still in the dark ages with Autism and its incredible complexity. I encourage parents to do their research and try modalities they feel might be effective as long as it doesn’t cause harm and their resources allow for it. Though there are some modalities I feel strongly about (pro or con), I’ll will abstain from highly recommending or condemning them. I have been repeatedly disappointed in the shortcomings of studies, how statistical data is manipulated and who funded the studies. The world of research is an incredibly political one and anyone sighting a research is going have to do more than that to sell me something. I am not on the spectrum but have an allergy producing system that ended me up in ER since childhood and I have achieved results from NAET I wasn’t able to achieve any other way. That’s my story, consider it a qualitative result. I hope that helps. Samira Zand M.A. This type of treatment is garbage! There is no evidence that this type of treatment works. My son was going and it was expensive and useless. If insurance does not cover it, that is a clue!
