I'm with you Sharon and Judy,

just described what I did before I had fibromyalgia, not what I can do

now. I used to love to turn on the music and dance around while I did my

housework. It made it fun. And yes it was great exercise, but then most things

I did back then required some exercise.

A description of today:

Now I do one thing, like go downstairs and put a load of wash in and take one

out of the dryer, fold it and bring it back upstairs.(The clothes are now

sitting on the stairs that go to the upstairs waiting for me to take them there

and put them away.) With that comes my left hip and lower left back having

shooting pains from doing the stairs and my upper back and shoulders in sharp

knife like pain from lifting my arms to fold the clothes from the dryer. I've

done that twice today. Before that I mopped the wood floor in my living room and

had to sit back down. I walked out to the mailbox and came in and sat down. I

put away the rest of the groceries and sat down. Now I'm sitting at the

computer completely fatigued, and in a lot of pain typing while I wait for the

pain to subside so I can get up again and do something and it's already 1:30.

When I've recovered a bit, I will get something for lunch and go through the

mail. I'll keep doing this routine until it's

around 6:00 and then my mind and body will give out so I will sit in my

recliner and thumb one of the magazines I get that I don't have time to read

anymore because although it doesn't seem like anything gets done, I am always

busy.

I don't burn many calories this way, but it's the only way I can get

anything.done. Yesterday I changed the sheets on three beds, getting ready for

my grandsons to come Saturday and that did me in for the day.

I need to finish everything but maybe washing my hair, which is really tough,

before tomorrow so I can rest so I won't have rebound pain and fatigue when they

come.

This is just the way it is with me now and I just try to accept it and get

what I can done. If I am having a flare, nothing gets done and I live in my

recliner, like Judy says, except for going to the bathroom.

Of course if a flare comes on I will have to cancel having my grandchildren

which is why we don't tell them until the last minute. It would annoy my

daughter to no end if I have to cancel, well Hell it will frustrate and annoy

me, but that would be the way it would have to be. I'm doing pretty well with

this routine right now so I'm not anticipating having to cancel and I want to

have them come stay so badly it hurts. No pun intended.

Wish me luck,

Marti

Researchers say it is! The great news is that chores help you burn calories

while you get things done! If you do them often enough, you won't have to go to

the gym! Try turning on the tunes and moving briskly; add squats, biceps curls,

and other moves as you go. You can burn 200 calories an hour mopping, vacuuming,

or washing windows the same as medium-intensity aerobics; 400 calories per

hour of mowing the lawn the same as cycling; and 500 calories per hour of

washing and waxing the car the same as jumping rope! So don't delay! Get

busy with that to-do list today!
