Guest guest
I will be having my first follow-up next week (having had ablation in March). I will get 3 miCu on Wed, Scan Fri, any treatment would be later. I noted a previous post said " there is so much iodine in your blood it doesn't matter what you eat " . Does that apply to me, too; or just to those with an ablation dose? My endo sent instructions to resume Cytomel and go off LID immediately following the WBS. But of course, I need to re-check all instructions here! I would like to add to the " hypo people shouldn't.......... " list. How about, Hypo people shouldn't wear clothing that opens in the back. My daugher noticed after we got home from a concert, that I never zipped the zipper on my full denim skirt. She also noticed my bright blue underwear. Wonder how many other people did, too!! `Anne from Wy

But of course, I need to re-check all instructions here! Hi, Anne - This applies to anyone who will be receiving RAI of any dose. If you have had a CT scan with contrast in the past year, there's a possibility that the iodine may still be in your system, and even the strictest LID won't effect it. If there is any doubt, having a 24 hour urine iodine test, will confirm it one way or another. > I would like to add to the " hypo people shouldn't.......... " list. I don't know how many other hypo people have left their clothing unzipped, but you're the first to admit it :-) NYC

You have time to do it, especially if you're rather strict with yourself -- 4-5 days is better than not doing it at all, if you can manage it. And yes, even for a scan. I resumed my meds immediately after my scan, but only because the endo-doctor was available (by phone) to hear the news from the nukes that I was " clean " (they'd already told me & showed me the pictures) and give the ok (I had the pills in my purse and popped them right there in the nuke's office!). And of course there was no reason to stay on LID then either. If the scan isn't clean and treatment is imminent, it's a different matter. > I would like to add to the " hypo people shouldn't.......... " list.
