Guest guest
Has she had a special education evaluation by the school district?? If not, that is where you woudl start. the idea is to get as many services out of the school system as possible if she qualifies. You do not need to tell them any of her medical diagnoses, you just google form letter requesting spec ed evaluation and mail it off, keep a copy. I have no idea if charter schools need to follow IEPs. The IEP is the document that would follow her through public school if she qualifies. You can call the school district and inquire about charter schools and special ed or just request the evaluation. FND or family network on disabilties is a great organization you can call and get some info from re school. You may want to find out what your child may be entitled to before you hire a tutor. I am overwhelmed with what to do to help her. i was told to get her in a social group asap and now i finally found one and a friend told me to save my money for a tutor for her. she has "friends" they do playdates but they arent very interactive. She interacts for short periods and then does her own thing. She wants friends and we work on it. Her biggest obstacle now is school. She is in 3rd grade and she is struggling. She goes to a charter school that is fairly new(3rd year) and i'm not sure if they are able to accomodate her. I have been calling since the school year started to let them know about her new diagnosis hoping she would get more services with her schooling. i call so many numbers and they don't accept my insurance and everything is so expensive. I have 3 other children and i am trying to balance everyone's needs. any advise would help.1)tutor for autistic/adhd in hollywood area?2)what should the school be doing for her and how fast should they?thanks
Guest guest
My daughter was also diganosed this summer with Aspergers and the doctor told me to get her into social skills classes that i cannot afford. I choose to try Swim Team for her. This way she can make friends and learn to listen to a coach. So far so good it has been a week. I also want to look into a bowling league for her and my son. There again she can socialize and pay attention to whiat she needs to do.Hopefully it all keeps going well as both of these are cheaper than the classesSent from my iPad My daughter has been diagnosed with developmentally delayed since 3 then ADHD at 5 and now apergers/pdd.
