Hi Ami,

What a great story. WE have been following the caringbridge

site, but it’s nice that the story is getting out to the public.

Congratulations on a safe homecoming, good luck with school.

How wonderful to see riding his bike !!!I am so happy for him. I hope your whole family enjoys each day as he gets back to his childhood.LeeEau Claire station came yesterday and interviewed us ( actually talked this time, and Jon was here, so he did, too), about coming home after being gone so long and being so sick, etc.  I expected it would be a while before it would air.  It was on last night's 10:00 news - LoL.  Anyway, here's the link . . . Then you all can see how awesome our boy is doing these days, compared to just a couple of months ago with the transplant story in the cities.

Ami, I was so happy to see that I just sit here and cried. Thank you

for that. It's wonderful to see riding his bike and talking about

video games.

Thanks, Penny. You know, 's supposed to be going into fourth grade this year, but because he'd missed so much, they were going to automatically put him into third grade without doing any testing or anything. Here are the problems with that: 1) The one thing he's looked forward to since leaving home was getting better so he could come back home and be with his friends who are all in FOURTH GRADE. They split up the elementary schools, so now the third grade and fourth grade are in two different schools. wouldn't see any of his friends then. 2) might be somewhat behind academically but he's definitely more mature than the first, second, and third graders they'd have stuck him in school with. 3) The building that those three grades are in is full of steps, and he's physically not up to handling that, not to mention it not being safe for him with a bunch of other kids running up and down those stairs jostling around on

them. So, I told them I thought it would be best if they did some testing and evaluating FIRST, because I would PREFER to put him in fourth grade and give him some extra help to get caught up, rather than assume he CAN'T catch up and put him in third grade. He's a bright boy, he just needs to be given the chance. Tomorrow afternoon we have a meeting with the Director of Special Services for the school district, along with the school psychologist, school nurse, special education teacher and the principal for the fourth and fifth grade elementary school. Thursday we go to Minneapolis to see the docs. His first visit back with them since coming home. He's lost a lot more weight than they'll be happy with, but we discovered last week that a lot of it is because of his thyroid, so there's not much that could be done about that, other than adjusting his meds, which we're now doing.

Anyway, I think the story came out well, with the exception of them writing that he was in the NICU for 15 days - LoL - but that only makes a difference if a person reads the story online instead of watching it. AmiPenny wrote: Hi Ami, What a great story. WE have been following the

We even get excited when we have to scold him for doing some he shouldn't - like jumping on the bed or trying to do somersaults on the couch - LoL - give him hell, then turn around and do a happy dance because he's feeling well enough to BE doing these things. Digging out worms to carry around the yard. Touching his now totally healed once gaping abdominal wound to gross his sister out. It's pretty awesome stuff. :-) Amileedeubert wrote: How wonderful to see riding his bike !!! I am so happy for him. I hope your whole family enjoys each day as he gets back to his childhood. I don't think that, if another liver mom had showed me that their child was like that just 3 months post transplant, I would have ever believed that would have been the same. Now with the way he's been the past couple of years. I'd nearly forgotten how much fun my little boy really was. :-) And isn't he SO darn handsome in those new glasses of his? Those are a new addition since coming home. Ami Peace wrote: Ami, I was

I absolutely love it, Ami! I've always said that when it comes to our

children, I'd much rather have my hands full than empty. And is

the cutest little walking miracle I've ever seen. :-)
