Guest guest
Awhile back there was a discussion on this board about an " alternative " to an IEP. It had a number, that's all I remember. And I've been pouring over all of the posts to try and find it. It seemed like a solution that was easier to implement and didn't involve all the protocol of the IEP process. I'm researching ways to help my ADHD son who had interventions in place in 2nd grade, tier 2. He is showing signs this year in 3rd grade that he will be needing support and apparently he's not 'on the list' for testing from last year, big surprise, so now we have to start over. I've been through the IEP process with my ASD son, and just the idea gives me the willies! Anyone know what the 'alternative' is called in the Broward County School system? Guest guest
It is a 504 plan. Personally I would request a 504 plan and testing for ESE at the same time, this way if he will need an IEP, you will still get it. An IEP offers a lot more protections than a 504 plan, but some students only need a 504 plan. http://www.wrightslaw.com/info/sec504.index.htm Awhile back there was a discussion on this board about an " alternative " to an IEP.
