Guest guest
((((Vick)))) you needed a hug at the beginning so I'm giving you one. Regarding the possibility that you may be diabetic, if your doctor ran a blood test called an A1C, it will tell where you are at (i.e. Type 2 controlled with diet, exercise and sometimes meds; or Type 1 controlled by insulin). We'll pray for the first, because if you have to make those lifestyle changes in your eating (and they are easy, I'm a T2 and have already brought my A1C # down to 5.8), it will benefit your DH with his blood pressure issues. Now, as to that, and I am no doctor, but on his BP meds, is he taking any kind of diurectic (HCTZ, lasix, that sort of thing)? They just switched me from lasix to bumex as it is gentler on the kidneys in the long run. Ya'll definitely need to get that under control. Has either of you ever had a sleep study? It is very possible that his spiked out blood pressure is coming from sleep apnea (does he snore horribly? sometimes gasp and sputter? if so, insist he get checked because those of us with high blood pressure are exceedingly at risk for a heart attack and/or stroke with untreated sleep apnea - which I have btw). I understand about money. Some times I wonder how in the world we are making it. I take 25 different medications a month. Those are the maintenance drugs. I also have about a half-dozen to take in the event of an asthma flare, pain break-thru, etc. You could check with your doctor(s) to see if you guys qualify for some of those programs that various drug companies are doing now for low-cost prescriptions. Or see if any of yours can be written generic because I know Walmart is only $4 for their generics and some others have started to go that way. Anyhow, wanted to offer you some encouragement and suggestions this morning. Any and all may or may not fit you guys, but I understand about not losing your DH. I cannot fathom life without mine.
