Guest guest
i read fibro pain is not inflammatory pain, and i know different meds work different for everyone, but the pain meds that help some of us, are they just those one's like vicodin, valium, controlled substances which docs do not like writing rxs for? or what meds have seemed to help some here? i will need to ask my doc next time i go in for something. magnesium and calcium just aren't helping with sleep as much as i need and i can tell pain is getting worse. thanks, marg

It is NOT an antiflammaory nor is it a narcotic. But, it works pretty good for pain. Of course, I have developed some tolerance to it over that long of a period so I take more now. But initially started with 50 mg 2x a day. I belive they have come up with an ULTRAM ER which you take 1 or 2x a day and I think it is 100 mg Extended release. Something you may want to ask your doctor about. Unfortuneatly, I have a terrible time with opiods and narcotics and duragesic patches. And, allergic to Neurotin and Lyrica. Take care. Hopefully, more people will post what has helped them. I also take Visteral at night and valium during the day. mncjl
Guest guest
Fibromyalgia could be inflammatory pain. I actually have an RA factor with my fibro. Drinking aloe vera juice in my OJ or any kind of juice first thing in the morning really helps to keep the muscles working and boosts our digestive tract and immune system. I also talk 100mg of Elavil and take 750mg of Robaxin every 6 hours. It is working so well for me. Robaxin is a muscle relaxant but it doesn't knock me out the way others did. I'm actually fairly normal functioning again. I also take all the necesasry vitamins and minerals our bodies need as well.

Aloe aids in the absorption of vitamins. It also contains Glyconutrients that are vital in cellular communication. If Fibro is an immune system problem could see how Aloe could give some benefit. I don't know how mild or severe my friend's case is, but she can only take Ibuprofen (mega doses), as the other meds gave her problems. I know she also took trazdone for sleep, but she hated it because knocked her out so completely. I had no idea the things this disease does to people. Guest guest
Rus, If I remember correctly, you are trying to help a friend who was recently dx'd with this lovely monster called fibro? she should check with her doctor (or rheumatologist) to see what other meds are out there. I can take and tolerate Lyrica (2 doses a day, 150 mg each time). I have an aunt who couldn't. I also have robaxin (muscle relaxer for spasms), darvocet (for breakthrough pain) and naproxen (if inflammation sets in due to the steroids I take for asthma). There are other meds out there that I have seen mentioned on this list - some can take ultram, some can take soma, some can take flexeril. It's going to take some trial and error for her to get what she needs meds wise that will help with her pain without making her a zombie. As for the sleep med, well, she needs to let her doc know she cannot be that " knocked out " . There are other meds for that out there as well, and I know some folks on here are into some of the natural methods like melatonin. Good luck. You are a good friend to be helping like this.
