Guest guest
Hi all, my son with Pdd-Nos has been in the place program for over a year now and is doing well but his teacher and I both agree he would do well in a typical program for his last year before kindergarden. He needs a fulltime program. I wanted to send him to place in morning and vpk in the afternoon. The preschools say they do that all the time but his place teacher says her class is fulltime or no time. Can she do this? who do I call to help me with this? The elementary ese director is out for the summer and apparently so is everyone else I have tried to reach. I will lose my afternoon vpk spot if I don't do the paperwork now but I can't put him in that unless I know he will be getting the extra needed hours from place or other program that maybe I don't know about. Please help, Thankyou, Debbie
Guest guest
Debbie, As for the teacher saying fulltime or no time is just not so the place program is optional not mandatory my daughter attended an integrated place program this past school year and only stayed fulltime 2 days a week the others I picked her up @ noon to take her to therapy. Another option is looking for an integrated place class vs place the differnece is there is generally 90-95% typical kids in the class however are headstart you kinda get the best of both worlds ese but also interaction with typical peers. If you have any wuestions please contact me jna524@... good luck Aileen To: sList Sent: Mon, July 19, 2010 10:32:41 AMSubject: ese place problem Hi all, my son with Pdd-Nos has been in the place program for over a year now and is doing well but his teacher and I both agree he would do well in a typical program for his last year before kindergarden. Guest guest
Preschool is NOT mandatory. Many children get picked up early for therapies so I see no difference. The most academic part of a preschool day is the AM. There should be no reason he can't attend both. You may want to see who the area ESE specialist is and contact them. It would be on his IEP.
