Lee Ann,Estrace contains Estradiol as the main ingredient (which is bio-identical estrogen like what our ovaries produce), but Estrace also

contains inert ingredients that may 'irritate' some. That is why some get a Rx for compounded Estradiol and have it made into a soothing base (like Emu Oil).

That way, you get the active med, minus possible irritants. It may be that it wasn't so much the 'estrogen' that makes you burn, but the inert ingredients. Also, though, if the skin itself is in bad shape, it might burn at first until the skin heals. I hope this makes sense! ;-)Chelle
