Hi Guys--

Well my nurse called me today to let me know that my culture was

positive for glabrata. This probably sounds weird but I'm kind of

relieved that it was positive because I felt sure that that was what

was going on and I knew if the culture wasn't positive I wouldn't get

treatment. I'm

definitely not happy about having this issue, but after a couple of

months of symptoms, and two rounds of BV treated with Flagyl I'm happy

to have some documentation/proof. The first nurse I went to at school

said she would only treat me for non-albicans yeast if I could show

her records that showed I had it (yet she would not do a culture

herself). Well now I can tell her that I WAS RIGHT!!!

So they are Rxing me Vfend, it is a newer generation drug in the

diflucan family. Does anyone know anything about it?

Hey ,Though I do not have experience with VFend....and I'm glad something finally cultured. Knowing what you are dealing with is at least half the battle. Hopefully someone will have some info for you...Take Care,Chelle

No, I haven't heard of VFend, I'm curious to also hear if any of you ladies have any info on it. I take a difulcan pill when I feel a yeast (Candida) infection coming along, along with Yeast Gard homeopathic suoppositories....you can buy this product at Walmat, I absolutely swear by it.

Years ago in another group someone used Vfend for Glabrata. I don't remember if it worked. I think her name was turnpike tramp. Don't know if she was in this group too and maybe it would be in the archives.

Hey, I have taken vfend. I took it for two seperate one month long treatment rounds. Oh sorry. I should have mentioned the side effect that I had. It effected my vision. Everything was really bright. This is even listed as a possible side effect on the info you get from the pharmacy. For me this was right after taking the drug, so I started taking it right before bed. After I stopped taking it altogether, my vision returned to normal. Scary, I know, but I don't regret taking it at all. It helped me more then anything.
