I found this online:

" The two main hormones which are responsible for the tenderness of the

breasts and the sensitivity of the nipples during pregnancy are

progesterone and oestrogen.

Progesterone aids the relaxation process of smooth muscles in the womb

facilitate the healthy growth and development of the foetus. It also

fuels the generation of breast tissue.

The side effects of progesterone are, as mentioned above, breast

tenderness as well as weariness, bloating, bone pain in the hip and

pubic area.

Oestrogen works side by side with oestrogen. The main function of this

hormone is to aid the development of the foetus, mainly with the

development of its organs as well as its sexual features. It also

makes the body ready for breastfeeding by helping milk glands to

develop and expanding the nipples. The side effects are as mentioned,

breast and nipple sensitivity, mood swings, skin patches etc. "

Hope that helps!

Hey Cia,Glad to hear your specialist said things are okay! I'm sure that is a relief. As for the soreness of your breasts, how much estrogen were you using topically? If only a a tiny little dab, it shouldn't have affected you...but of course, our bodies are so different, you just never know. I hope you are feeling better.Take Care,ChelleHey there..good news! I went to a vuvla specialist and he said all looks great regarding my vulva skin..I was told that I had what looked to be cancer cells pre can cells i should say as it looked like lacerations and LS by two other docs. Well, I think it is interesting this started after you stopped using the estrogen because that is what estrogen does to me,it makes my breasts really sore before a period. I tried the estrogen creme before and it seemed to work for the vulva skin but I had to stop because it gave me lower abdominal cramps. My doctor at the time said it wasn't possible I was getting the cramps from the little bit of creme I was using but I tried it several times and it did the same thing everytime. I think I am very estrogen sensitive. All I can think of is maybe you still have extra estrogen circulating. I know that in traditional Chinese medicine they say that when your breasts swell and hurt like that that the liver is stagnant or overloaded so it can't process the hormones properly and you get things like sore breasts, PMS and irregular menstration.--- On

My sister passed away with estrogen receptive breast cancer. Any additional estrogen should not be taken lightly. I think I am actually going to curtail my using this ointment because of this. Plus, the new doc I am seeing wasn't totally sold on this because of the breast cancer issue in my family
