Guest guest
- I myself when I had them which use to be quite often, mostly when my kids were small, had the fight or flight thing going on, I don't know if that is the same as out of control feeling or not, just new I had to try and sleep to get through it, usually was a trip to ER. Back then we never were given any meds to take to get us through so it was really bad, the DR, would just check make sure I wasn't really dieing tell me it was a panic attack and send me home! My best friend had the same thing, we use to feel them come on and just have to get out of wherever we were and home as quick as possible. I have felt anxious now at times but have held them at bay so don't get to the panic state anymore, and hope never to again. Lots of hope for you to get rid of them to. Teri Wallner wrote: Sharon, My attacks have definitely diminished but I take meds daily - used to take xanax but they aren't long lasting so they switched me to klonopin which seems to work better for me. I still have my xanax in case of full blown attacks in addition to the klonopin. I can tell though if I need to take a klonopin (or at least a half) because I am able to tell if one is coming on or my head will start spinning with all these stupid thoughts that I can't stop which usually lead to a bout of depression (or worsening of, I should say). I too have learned how to deal with them - which bites - I'd rather learn to do something enjoyable - like skiing (yeah, right - like that's ever going to happen). ;-) Teri (central WI) RE: panic attacks!!! awfull things Just catching up.. I read your story. I to was and probably still have potential of being a panic attacker. Mine started when my first born was a baby I was home alone with her and eating chix soup I swallowed a bone. Well that lead to the begining of them, I went into a full blown attack, don't even think I was ever really choking on the bone! But I too visited many times at ER and could not sit still sure I was dying and had small children to raise. Well it took yrs of practice breathing, realizing they are only a panic attack and it will end, as back then no one would put me on meds. I had two friends who also had them, and even though we could talk about them, sometimes, after hanging up from talking it would set me off on one. The store thing, Me to had them in there would drop everything and run out. Driving had to pull over instantly. They seem to come on when you don't think they should, like when your at rest, or think your relaxed, Your the first who I have heard say you were woke with them as I was, would jump right out of bed. I am glad you are able to take something as they are wicked. And hopefully they will diminish as mine have. But do fear them in the back of my mind when driving long distances.
