I was very hopeful it would help me. After 2 months on it, I developed a clitoral sore that about did me in. I tried compounding it with emu oil and I got worse. I stopped the estrogen cream......healed and gave it another try. 2 months later another sore. So....I just cant use it. Good luck though. Guest guest
Still wondering about these things but am now wondering if most are using the estrogen cream alone or with progesterone also? I am only using the premarin creme and hoping it's not going to give me cancer or something. I'm currently having my monthly visitor, I assume the creme is off till this is done. I'm just hoping it isn't as painful as last month as it is irritating me and last month is was very painful! I can barely stand to wear underclothing let alone these horrible pads. > > Can anyone share their experiences with estrogen cream for this? Dose, > level of relief if any? Guest guest
her70cuda, (sorry I don't know your name)How are you using the Premarin? Are you using it vaginally or just applying it topically to the vulvar skin? I started out using Estrace cream (bio-identical estrogen) topically on the vulvar skin. I only use a pea size dab and rub it in really good. I use it before bedtime. At first I used it daily, now a few times a week. My hormone levels dropped really low, and I ended up going on an estrogen patch. I apply it twice a week. As for dose, that really depends on your own situation and what your body needs. I use Vivelle dot .1 mg (patch) and I now cut about 1/3 of it off. As for cancer, estrogen in and of itself does not cause cancer. Yes, there can be estrogen dependent cancers, but from everything I've read, I feel really comfortable in my decision to use it. If you will check previous posts, you will find a lot of good info estrogen and I'm pretty sure Dee (group owner) has good info about the cancer risks, too. Is there a particular reason you are using the Premarin? This is just my two cents, but you might do better using a different kind of estrogen. If I find any good articles, I'll send them in. If you have any other questions, just ask away! ;-) I'll try to answer what I can, and maybe someone else will chime in, too. Guest guest
I'm using about a half a first finger nuckle (tip) of it and applying it inside and around the opening. I was told I could use my finger instead of the applicator so I do since it's easier. I'm trying the premarin because the Dr. had samples so we thought to try it first and see if it even helped before I put out a hundred bucks on a script. I was using it externally where the pain is (vulva area) and then I was told it has to be inside to do any good so I don't know what to do most of the time. > > > > Can anyone share their experiences with estrogen cream for this? > Dose, > > level of relief if any? Guest guest
I had an intolerance to local estrogen also, a low dose estrogen patch has been life saving ...great results. I use vivelle dot .0375 patch every three days, it has made the biggest difference in my quality of life out of everything I have tried. Just my experience. Guest guest
Are you having vaginal pain, too? I'm not sure why you were told to use the Premarin internally if your pain is external! I don't blame you one bit for using samples before actually shelling out the money, but maybe you should ask if your doc has any samples of Estrace or could get you some. I'm just so leery of Premarin. You could ask to have your hormone levels tested to see if you actually need anything systemically. I need both external use of estrogen and something systemically, too. I use cream topically on the vulvar area and a patch to boost my overall levels. I hope you find some relief. Guest guest
How long until you notice a difference in the skin with estrogen cream. My doctor said there is nothing wrong with the skin per se, but he recommends this ointment. I just want the burning to stop when I urinate and it touches the skin, was wondering how long this might take CMake your life easier with all your friends, email, and favorite sites in one place. Try it now.
Guest guest
Her70cuda,I realize I didn't originally answer your questions...I hope this will help! You asked about level of relief? -- I began using Estrace cream just a tiny little pea sized dab that I massaged into the vulvar skin nightly (right before bedtime). I used it daily for about two months before I began seeing and feeling some improvement in my vulvar pain/skin. Now I use it about two times a week (more if I flare) and I've used it for almost 4 years now. Did it effect my monthly hormones? No, not at all. Fast forward two years down the road after beginning the Estrace topically. I now use an estrogen patch - and it really seems to keep my vulvar skin in good shape, too. It has definitely impacted my overall hormone levels, but that is a good thing for me. My estrogen levels were falling way too low for my age. I hope this answers your questions. Guest guest
Yeah I didn't want to use the premarin either for a few reasons but right now the insurance only reimburses at 60% for a name brand AFTER I pay up front so I don't have much choice. No most of my pain is really external. I haven't been able to have sex for 4 months so I don't know really how that will go but the Dr. exams really weren't too painful, just normal uncomfortable with the speculum. The main issues seem to be lack of external moisture, pain, and a thin white coating on the labia mostly creases in the afternoon. Even using plain water to rinse off seems to strip every drop of moisture on the external genitalia. On occasion some of the fold areas look raw but there is nothing to abrade them so I don't understand that either. The Dr.s I've seen know nothing about this and other than the NP prescribing the creme the only advice I got from the Gyno is to try Yaz bcp and take salt soaks. So I'm sort of lost here. > I'm using about a half a first finger nuckle (tip) of it and > applying it inside and around the opening. Guest guest
Premarin made me WORSE. Estrace was helpful. Be careful with premarin. Lindsey
