Yes. The topical cream I use is a combo of lidocaine and prilocaine. It burns for about 10 seconds.Annie Subject: questionTo: happypelvis , VulvarDisorders Date: Wednesday, December 3, 2008, 12:43

Hi

My doctor prescribed a concoction of amitryptilene, gabapentin, lidocaine, estriol, testosterone and lidocaine to use as a topical cream applied 4 times a day. I was wondering if anyone experienced a burning sensation when first applying the cream. It goes away in a few minutes, but just wondered if this happenend to anyone before using these topical medications

thanks

Hi,

we don't have this kind of option in the UK - the doctors here just

will not try these things out and we also don't have the same

compounding pharmacy facilities that you guys have. This sounds like a

dream combo to me - will you let me/us know how you get on with it

please? You're welcome to mail me off-list. good luck!

Okay. This sounds good. Now, why this mix of topicals? Is it because you

are not taking any pills? I see my doc at the end of January. I want to

get off of the pills and this may be the answer. hugs, ML

Carolyn, when I used Lidocaine it used to burn for a little while at first. Then I had it compounded in a soothing base and it doesn't seem to burn me anymore. It might be some of the inert ingredients. Have you called the pharmacy to see what all they use? If it doesn't irritate, then maybe things will calm down after a while.
