Guest guest
- Thanks alot for your added nursing info on this. I just knew that way back about 20yrs ago, I was going thru much like I am now, not diagnoised then as FM, but had been tested for everything from Lupus to a desert disease as I lived in Ca. I knew that my g.friend swore by getting these shots for feeling better, less fatigue etc., so becuase I was finally told that what was wrong with me was just my Graves Disease, though had my thyroid removed so don't know how I still had it, I wanted to try this b-12 shot to as I had sm.kids, and needed to feel good, have some just some energy to care for them, and stop my body from aching, but I was refused, and was told they don't just give them out to whoever wants one. ???? I only wish if they help with energy and I could feel like I was clear minded, or grounded if u know what I mean I feel so somewhere between outerspace and on the ground so much of the time. Well again thank you for taking your time with breaking down b-12. As I know just because something is just a vitaman they can become deadly to someone who is or becomes toxic to it just like anything else. Studies have been conducted that say it is metabolized into harmful cyanides. Cyanocobalamin must be converted by the body into B-12 before it can be absorbed. Proponents of the harmful cyanides theory usually endorse taking a more natural form of B-12, methylcobalamin which is not supposed to metabolize into the harmful stuff. When I was in nursing I had many patients who received routine doses of cyanocobalamin. I've even given it to several of my family members on a gradually decreasing basis: Every day for 3 days, every other day for 6 days, once a week for 3 months. I've had patients who had taken it routinely for years with no side effects. We were taught that anything other than the injectable or sublingual (under-the tongue) forms were useless, because B-12 would break down and become useless in the presence of gastric enzymes and acids, and that there was no cumulative effect, or problem with a toxic build-up of B-12. So, I've been puzzled lately as to whether that information was wrong, or whether a new, more stable form had been created, or whether vitamin manufacturers were putting B-12 in supplements just to make a sale, knowing it would never get absorbed. I think it's the latter. in Louisiana > For most people B12 is not toxic. I believe the body just flushes out > what it doesn't need.
