Guest guest
I don't know if I have fibromyalgia, I had blood work and it came out ok, but I went for a sleep test and it showed I had high levels of Alpha Intrusion which the technologist said that meant pain...and I looked it up online and it said it was from fibromyalgia.....does this high level of alpha intrusion mean that i have fibro? I hurt all over, I feel like i have the flu all the time, I'm weak, I'm currently being treated for RA...but I'm now thinking I may have been misdiagnosed. I wake up and my hands are so painful and stiff...All my joints are stiff in the morning, but once I start moving and get a hot shower, its better. My hands, feet and hips hurt the most. The doctor did a bone scan and said he has never seen so much inflammation in someone my age (44). I not only have pain in my bones and joints, but I get sharp pains in my muscles and tendons. Weather definitely affects the pain. What does it sound like?
Guest guest
Fibro does not show up in blood work.Everything else is ruled out before you are diagnosed. sunshine01098 wrote: I don't know if I have fibromyalgia, I had blood work and it came out ok, but I went for a sleep test and it showed I had high levels of Alpha Intrusion which the technologist said that meant pain...and I looked it up online and it said it was from fibromyalgia.....does this high level of alpha intrusion mean that i have fibro? Guest guest
Sounds like fibromyalgia to me. Especially your mention of the interruption in Alpha waves during sleep. I have read here at the site and on research sites that this is common with fibro. It is the theory that this sleep disorder is part of what makes us so exhausted. Also the kind of pain you describe. I am not a doctor, but to me it does sound like fibro. And blood work won't show fibro. (there are a few new tests most docs don't know about, they still don't confirm the presence of fibro). I recently read something about Antipolymer antibodies which is commonly positive in blood work with fibromyalgia. I don't know what that means exactly, but it seems to have some link to this disease. This would not show up in common bloodwork. It would have to be tested for specifically. hugs, Debra V. sunshine01098 wrote: I don't know if I have fibromyalgia, I had blood work and it came out ok, but I went for a sleep test and it showed I had high levels of Alpha Intrusion which the technologist said that meant pain...and I looked it up online and it said it was from fibromyalgia.....does this high level of alpha intrusion mean that i have fibro? Guest guest
To me, it sounds like RA possibly along with FM. With all the inflammation you describe, I would say that is probably from the RA. FM doesn't usually show up on any scans or tests. It's very possible you have it, but my guess is that the RA is not a mis-diagnosis. Hope you get some pain relief soon. Take care. Guest guest
It's not fibro doing that honey. You've either got an infection somewhere or it could be due to the arthritis. I really do feel for you. I know that is so painful and to not have relief only adds to it. I hope they figure it out quickly for you.
