On Thursday, July 29, TASH held a congressional briefing in partnership with the Collaboration to Promote Self-Determination entitled Promoting Employment First: Innovations in Policy & Practice to Achieve Integrated Employment with Livable Wages for Citizens with Significant Disabilities. Scheduled to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, this briefing was an opportunity to address critical employment issues with congressional leaders and staff.Among speakers at the briefing were Barb Trader, TASH Executive Director, Ward, TASH Board Member and Self-Advocate, Callahan, TASH Board Member and President of Marc Gold & Associates, Wiedenkeller, SVP of Human Resources and Chief People Officer of AMC Entertainment and Curt Decker, Executive Director of the National Disability Rights Network. These five individuals spoke passionately and boldly regarding the need for employment practices and policies that can help achieve a truly integrated workforce and empower individuals with disabilities.
