The upgraded version of the Organic Acids Test (OAT) has increased the number of compounds tested from 65 to 70 plus two new ratios. The new compounds include quinolinic acid, inorganic phosphate, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, hydroxyhippuric acid, malic acid, DHPPA, N-acetylcysteine (NAC). Two new ratios being reported are quinolinic acid/kynurenic acid ratio and quinolinic acid/5-HIAA ratio. This improved OAT includes new important markers, a new report format, and updated reference ranges. Shaw, Ph.D., is board certified in the fields of clinical chemistry and toxicology by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Before he founded The Great Plains Laboratory, Inc., Dr. Shaw worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Children’s Mercy Hospital, University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine, and Kline Laboratories.
