Guest guest
I'm fairly new to having PSC but I have had ulcerative colitis for 3 years now (still kind of new). I have a question for all the veterans out there. I've been waking up every morning with this dull terrible pain between and right below my ribs. It is a dull ache that doesn't go away very easy. I am not sure if this is because of my colitis or PSC. My colitis is very bad and not under control at all because I am allergic to so many medications. Has anyone experienced this with either colitis or PSC? I could any advice I can get! Holly
Guest guest
Sorry to hear that you are having pain. My little boy 9 yrs old had terrible pain just like you are describing. He would sit in the bath tub with the sprayer on his tummy to try and relieve it. It was terrible day in and day out. Everyone kept saying there is no pain with PSC but at the time, his lover enzymes were elevated and the new Dr. we saw put him on Urso and within a few days the pain went away and has been good for almost a year without pain or elevated liver enzymes. Areyou on Urso? Have you had your liver functiontests lately. I was amazed that it worked so fast for his pain that went on for months prior to taking the Urso. Good luck... Ostos sgedgaud@... Guest guest
This is very similar to the pain PSC just prior to PSC diagnosis. It usually went away with a dose of several glasses of water (until the last time!). I think now that it was " sludge " blockage in my narrowed bile ducts (since expanded with balloon dilatation). My colitis at the time was completely under control. It could also be GERD, but I think that would be more commonly experienced at bed time, not on awakening. Dull ache describes my experience pretty well!. Keep a list of symptoms and questions - ask the questions of your Dr. next time.
