Guest guest
May I ask why you would want to inhibit any language. Echolalia and delayed echolalia are building blocks to growing language. It may be annoying even frustrating at times, however with adding other words or sentences to what the individual is repeating over and over you will increase their language. My child had and still has some echolalia and delayed echolalia but is also able to enhance and change when other phrases or questions are introduced and it is noticeably less frequent. When ever she would say over and over and over a movie line or something she heard somewhere I would interject other words or phrases or questions to get her to think. Ex: "princess jasmine, princess jasmine, etc etc" and I would say "princess jasmine has long black hair or what movie is princess jasmine in? etc. Maybe a speech language therapist would be able to assist you.To: deniseslist Sent: Tuesday, September 27, 2011 6:00 PMSubject: Self talk Does anyone know of a medication to reduce self talk, repetitive vocalizations? Guest guest
He speaks perfectly well about everything, initiates conversations, tells you information, just talks to himself a lot, mainly at school. We have a Speech Therapist who works with him, but I probably didn't describe it correctly. A lot of it is humming, singing. He's 14 years old. We do remind him to talk to pople but he does do a lot of self talk as well. Guest guest
My daughter perseverates esp. when you tell her NO, she is 16. I understand, other than the insanity you start to feel, its also trying to teach them how to act approp. in public. Guest guest
Jodi I don't know of any medication but it's the methylation process that has been affected so you might want to try something that improves that pathway. You could try Active B12 which is methycobalamin B12 and Folinic acid or Methyfolate which is a supplement that has the 5 methyltetrahydrofolate necessary for methylation. Also TMG is a necessary component as well in the methylation process. Dr. Le Gunn carries all of these supplements. 561 350-9967. Does anyone know of a medication to reduce self talk, repetitive vocalizations? Sent from my Samsung Epicâ„¢ 4G
