Guest guest
My daughter has OCD as well as Aspergers and ADHD. She sees Dr. Hoffman at neurobehavioral institute in Weston. They specialize in OCD. However they do not take insurance. If you have out of network benefits consider them because all of the doctors in the group are amazing. They also run a monthly support group for pediatric OCD patients on the second Wednesday of each month at the Dan Marino Center in Weston that is free and open to the public. The phone number is free Good luck! Guest guest
The SPEC (Support for Parents of Exceptional Children) support group meets this Wednesday night (the first Wednesday of every month) at the Dan Marino Center in Weston from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. It is open to the public so you do not have to RSVP to come. It is a wonderful group. Guest guest
Dr Udell is amazing. My autistic daughter with serious OCD behaviors has been under his care for two years now. He takes the time to individualize and try to get to the root of the problem. Guest guest
How is a dan doctor supposed to help with OCD? I need a cognitive behavioral therapist who does exposure and response therapy. Sent from my iPhone
Guest guest
Research the connection between OCD and the presence of the streptococcus bacteria http://www.nimh.nih.gov/science-news/2006/how-strep-triggers-obsessive-compulsive-disorder-new-clues.shtml http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/exchange/node/1769 If you just goole Strep and OCD" you'll get pages of great info. We dealt with this as well...got amazing results with just using some broad spectrum natural anti microbials....was miraculous to watch OCD symptoms just gradually disappear. Dr Amy Yasko has ALOT of info on her website www.holistichealth.com. Re: ocd help How is a dan doctor supposed to help with OCD? Guest guest
Ok, as I try to deal with the OCD daily I'm now wondering if this new symptom is OCD at all. He is peeing constantly and so frustrated and miserable from the feeling of having to go that he is screaming all the time, hitting himself , crying etc. I feel like my heart is breaking because I can't help him and I know he is suffering. He does not have a urinary tract infection but I'm taking him for blood work tomorrow to rule out some other possibilities. I need to be strong fir him but I just feel like crying all the time. He is also peeing on the floor and in his pants because he is just so tired of going to the bathroom. Im at a loss. He never wet his pants, ever! He's 5. Guest guest
None that I know of. My DAN Dr. doesn't take insurance but he does put each visit on the universal claim form so I can submit it myself to my insurance. Unfortunately the compensation from the insurance company is about 1/3 of the total cost of the bill (which is exactly why many providers do not take insurance to begin with). Guest guest
DAN Dr.'s are not all created equal, but a good DAN Dr. can help you get to the bottom of the problem which is why is this behavior occurring in the first place. Don't just accept the same old excuse that "well this is just a part of their diagnosis." OCD can be diminished with certain hormones and supplements which need to be done under the careful eye of an experienced DAN Dr. I always avoid neurologists because typically they are WAY to keen on putting little kids on drugs.Just my 2 cents worth. Guest guest
I am interested to hear what the mainstream Dr. tells you. If I were in your situation I would make an appointment with a DAN Dr. I use Dr, Rossinal but he is in Melbourne (well worth the drive). I have heard good thins about Dr. Udell in Westin as well. What color is his urine? Does it have a strong smell? I would have him tested for PANDAS especially since he just finished with Step. How long has he been off of antibiotics? Guest guest
It's been my experience that even neurotypical kids get very non compliant when they are sick because they don't feel well. It sounds like a urinary track infection. I know you said it's not, but if they don't find anything else I would recheck that. Guest guest
Well that sounds promising, at least she knew what PANDAS are and that antibiotics should be given with probiotics. Just make sure you give the pro-biotic a tleast two hours away from the antibiotic. I will keep your little guy in my prayers, I have a 5 year old too and it is very difficult when they cannot tell you what is wrong with them.
