Guest guest
-----Original Message----- She gets panic attacks frequently……. Is there a medication or something she can take post transplant to help alleviate these attacks? Most transplant centers have a psychologist and social worker on their teams. You can ask for one or talk to one at your next visit. Chances are one will have already seen your step daughter by the time she has her surgery. Almost everyone meets with that department during their evaluation. She has pets in her home...is that a problem when she returns home? She has a dog and a cat. My son has 3 big dogs. The liver team didn’t have a problem with his dogs – as long as they were up-to-date on their shots and in good health. They did say it was important for the dogs to maintain good health. Cats were ok, same rules on shots & good health, but absolutely no cleaning of litter boxes. What I found surprising, they really didn’t like birds, any kind of birds, even went so far as to say people should get rid of them. Will she be able to travel by automobile or will she need an ambulance after her transplant? She “might” have to stay close to the hospital for a couple of weeks. When they release her to go home, she’ll be able to travel by car. Don’t worry about pain meds, they control the pain. She might want to “time” her pain meds so she can take some before driving back and forth. HTH Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes!
