Guest guest
Where do you live? I see a Dr. in Orlando and he was the only one out of about 7 that I saw that knew what was wrong with me. Let me know if you want to contact him ...I can give you the info. He is listed on the the NVA referral list too. Best wishes, Subject: Gyno appt a bustTo: VulvarDisorders Date: Saturday, December 20, 2008, 9:45 PM I saw the traveling gyno today and it was a waste of time and money and hope. I started to tell him I have vulvar pain and irritation and that it all began after a BV diagnosis and treatment with metrogel. Right then and there I knew it was useless because he said oh no that's not for me the Nurse Practitioner can handle that. So I told him it had been 4 months and she doesn't know what it is or what to do for it. He did an physical exam and a slide and came back and said there doesn't appear to be a yeast or bacterial infection. So he wants me to try Sarna Lotion on the Vulva and Premarin twice a week rubbed into the Vulva. He's from Red Bluff and neither he nor anyone else I have been to locally has dealt with this, OMG I can't just keep Dr. hopping, I can't afford it especially when they each know NOTHING. Guest guest
Sarna Lotion is an anti-itch remedy which contains menthol and camphor. I use vicks which contains menthol, camphor and eucalyptus. I mix it with vaseline approx. 1 part vicks and 3 or 4 parts vaseline. It works well for me. Some of those anti-itch meds contain too much menthol, etc. and burn me so I just use vicks. So his advice might not be a total bust. I also use the low-oxalate diet which keeps the burning at bay And hydrocortisone OTC also works sometimes. Guest guest
I'm not so sure I am comfortable putting camphor on my mucous membranes. I also read today it should not be used on skin that is burned or injured and I do have red areas I sure don't want to irritate any further.Acupuncture today has some good info on Camphor. I'm glad it is giving you some relief though! Thanks for your reply and the info. > > >I saw the traveling gyno today and it was a waste of time and money > >and hope. Guest guest
Hi , I'm so sorry to hear about the lack of help from your appt. It's very aggravating (to say the least) when you wait to see a doc and then walk away feeling like it was a waste of time and money. I know it's hard to think about finding someone new...and it's hard on us financially, too...but it's worse to go without good care from someone who can possibly help. Did he even look at the red areas you have mentioned? I think I'd be looking for someone on the NVA list of docs or check our database. Take it from someone who has been through it over the last 17 yrs. - if I could go back in time, I would have gone out of state immediately and saved myself a lot of time & money, not to mention all the pain I suffered. The hard thing about him saying no infection...is so many docs don't really know or understand about the rarer strains of bacterial or fungal infections. Sad, but oh so true! If we can help you find someone who understands vulvar pain, just let us know! Hang in there,Chelle
