Guest guest
Hi : What have you taken for the Glabrata? Did they give you VFEND? Can recommend an infectious disease or allergy doctor if she can't help? She recommended a naturopath to me when she couldn't clear up my Group B Strep with antibiotics. Guest guest
: WB. I am no expert as I dont get yeast problems. Question: Is it possible to get it from your husband, ladies? I really don/t know but that is what hit my mind and please excuse my ignorance. hugs, ML stay warm -- Some of you may not know me, I used to post on this group a lot when my vulvodynia was really bad. The good news is that that is GONE, for the most part. Any problem now pales in comparison (mine was severe and disabling). However, I am now for the THIRD time in my life dealing with a bad yeast issue. Severe yeast infections were what brought my pain on in the first place. Anyway, thanks to (in a matter of 3 months) 3 rounds of antibiotics (2 for BV), a complete disaster of an attempt at taking hydrocortisone to treat an adrenal issue, moving into a severely mold infested apartment despite my attempts to ensure that there wasn't a mold problem, and a new doc (I recently moved) who wouldn't give me a high enough thyroid dose, I now have a systemic resistant yeast problem. Glabrata has cultured from both my bowel and vagina. So I know the drill (although I can't find a med that helps)....but I guess I just wanted to share how disappointing this is. As I said, I am still on cloud 9 about my pain being gone, but it really sucks to have a yeast issue. The dietary restrictions really get me down and make me feel crazy and stressed out. The antifungal meds do not work for me! I need to find a doc to treat me for mold and yeast allergies but I am not up for the fight of finding another doctor right now. So I'd love to chat with anyone else who is going through this. And, I really don't understand why I have such a problem with this. It always comes back. That is, if I don't stay on the completely unreasonable diet, which in my mind is not sustainable. Anyway, nice talking to you all. -------------
Guest guest
Hi , I cycled through all rx antifungals, which would work for a time, and then lose their efficacy--I was afraid I'd never find relief! Then I tried herbal compounds again--they'd always been inadequate in the past--and lo and behold, they worked! Oregon Grape Root and other berberine compounds were especially helpful, as was resveratrol/Japanese Knotweed, which I took for lyme. The MD/homeopath I just saw recommended this product for candida--he says it's " miraculous " : http://abc.eznettools.net/jernigannutraceuticals/yeast-easeShort.html I should mention that I've also taken mold allergy desensitization drops and HMF Replete probiotic for the last several years, and feel they have been crucial to the improvement in my yeast/mold symptoms. Good luck to you--I certainly empathize, Glomer > > Hello everyone-- > > Some of you may not know me, I used to post on this group a lot when > my vulvodynia was really bad. Guest guest
Hi Joan, I'm a patient of Dr. Deborah Metzger (recently discussed on this board), but just began seeing Dr. Randy S. Baker in the Santa Cruz, CA area for additional lyme support. He is not a vulvar pain specialist. Guest guest
Hi Sherri-- I did in fact take Vfend and it did not do the trick. It was the lowest dosage however and my doc would not raise it. It's so frustrating because everything you read says if not responding to low dose give higher dose. I don't see (though I wish I could ) as I am in NC. If I move back to MD I am thinking about becoming a patient of 's because she seems excellent. > > Hi : > > What have you taken for the Glabrata? Guest guest
You can get the yeast from your husband, from what I've heard. I really think the only solution that will work long-term and keep your body from the ravages of antibiotics and other drugs is the anti-yeast diets, which I know are horribly difficult - but probably worth it. I know many people that they have truly worked for. Melinda C.
Guest guest
Hi: I thought you went to . I might have gotten you confused with someone else. Have you tired boric acid suppositories for it? I used them for regular yeast and didn't have any luck with them. But, I think I am the only one here who didn't have success with boric acid. Have you tried a naturopath? Mine didn't cure the Group B Strep either, but her treatment got rid of the horrible discharge so that was good enough for me. Guest guest
Hi Sherri-- Well that makes two of us because they didn't help me either! I was on the hydrocortisone at the same time that I used them however so I could have been so immune-suppressed that nothing would have helped, but I don't know. I've read several articles that say it is effective in 60% of glabrata cases, which is a lot, but then there's still 40% of us who it doesn't help. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. > > > > > > Hi : > > > > > > What have you taken for the Glabrata? Did they give you VFEND? Guest guest
I'm trying here. I remember reading somewhere that over the counter Vagistat and prescription Gynazole works on the other types of yeast. Not 100% sure about Glabrata. Have you checked into them? Guest guest
Hi Sherri--I sure appreciate your trying! I haven't tryed Vagistat or Gynazole, but I will add them to my list of thing to try, which has dwindled a lot! I'm currently trying these coconut and betadine suppositories that I made myself, so first I will see how that goes. Thanks a lot-- > > > > > > > > > > Hi : > > > > > > > > > > What have you taken for the Glabrata? Did they give you VFEND?
