Hello,

Turns out that my childs school has eliminated media center has a special. I'm

not sure though if this was eliminated for all kids, or just cluster kids. With

all of these overall budget cuts, I'm confused as whether the service is cut for

all or just for our kids.

Does anyone know if media center is still offered in the elementary schools for

gen ed kids? I was there the other day and the media center is still very much

there, lights on and staffed. So I don't understand why the cluster kids are

not going.

Thanks.

My daughter is in a general education class. They have media center right now

but it Will only be for the first half of the year.

I would just ask the teacher or call the front office to find out exactly what

is happening at the school.

Unfortunately, school ain't what it used to be for all kids! Cutbacks are ludicrous, so arts, music, language and media all take a back seat. And don't get me started on PE!! So, depending on the school, and I believe at the principal's discretion, cuts are made as strategically as they can. A sad reality today.

Hey I have an idea. If the Broward School board is thinking of selling naming rights to buses, cafeteria's etc how about the autism society investing in the bus graffiti for autism awareness month? If we raise enough funds with the walkabout perhaps we can put some appropriate books into the media centers so that our kids have free & equal access.Just thinking out loud. :) CherylTo: sList Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2011 2:41 PMSubject: Re: Question on specials for elementary students
