Before I would have injections vaginally for triggerpoints, I would find a pelvic floor PT to do some internal work to better locate where your tenderness is. You can contact the NVA to see if there is a Pt in your area and if not, it would be worth the trip to go to someone really good for an evaluation first. I don't feel that GYNs really have the tactile experience to feel these kind of muscle irregualarites like a good PT. I complained for many years of some of the tenderness being along my episiotomy scar. 3 Gyns checked me and said the scar was fine. I went to a pelvic floor PT and she said I definitely has scar tissue which she worked on for a couple of weeks and reduced my pain about 10-15%. PTs are experts in muscles, GYNs are not.> > From: ivy <ivysincredimail@ ...>> Subject: Re: trigger pt injections> To: VulvarDisorders@ yahoogroups. com> Date: Tuesday, December 23, 2008, 8:27 PM> > > > > > > > > > > > I have but not "down there". Kristy, Sorry that the PT didn't help Carolyn.

Trigger points are irritable knots of muscle which have to be

palpated to be found. Some trigger points radiate their pain to

another area when they are stimulated, some, the pain is focus around

that spot.

The vaginal area has what is called " lots of cross talk " in those

areas so it is tricky to find the spots that are actually causing the

pain. Since 3 gyns couldn't seem to figure out that my episiotomy

scar was contributing to my pain and my PT felt it my first visit I

guess I have more confidence in an experienced PTs tactile skill.

Not all PTs are as good with pelvic PT though, I have been to 3. One

was not good, one was pretty good and my current PT is excellent.

, that is fantastic that you have been able to see a good PT that has helped with your pain. It is amazing when you learn (and can feel) the connection between trigger points and pain. My husband and I have used Clair Davies book to learn and work on triggers. I had some pretty mean ones around my shoulders and he has some in his back. Have you added your PT to the Database list on the homepage of the group? She might already be on there, but if not, please add her! ;-) Take Care,ChelleKristy, Sorry that the PT didn't help Carolyn.
