Guest guest
So has been itching. His eyes are yellow. He feels terrible, but is not running a fever. The last thing I want to do is drag the man 4 hours to SLC for the dr to say, " Sure thing, his liver enzymes are up. It stinks waiting for a liver. Deal with it. " Please advise. , (basket case, wife of (psc 95, CCa 07))

I remember lying in bed the last night before my transplant (not knowing at the time that it was the last night before my transplant) not able to sleep, feeling awful and just praying " God I really need a liver soon " ! As far as helpful advice the only thing I can offer is to ask whether is at the top of the transplant list now (I can't remember)? If he isn't it might be worth getting labs re-run if only in order to bump up his MELD score... I know mine shot through the roof in the last week before my transplant... that's what moved my from #3 to #1. Also is it possible to get labs run locally? That could give a better indication of whether the long trip is needed or likely to be helpful at all. I know my transplant docs always want me to get what I can done here first, and then see them if necessary. Hope that helps! We're praying for you! athan
Guest guest
I hadn't thought about his meld. Thank you, I will try to get some labs run tomorrow. His natural meld has been 0 because his liver is working fine. Fortunately, with early stage CCa, they will gift an artificial meld. His gifted meld is 25 and will jump to 28 at the end of December. He was at the top of the list, but was bumped down several notches by other, more sick persons. I am all for his meld to get bumped up......anything, to end this.
