Guest guest
Hi All, My mother in law found some info on a B-12 supplement that she is interested in having me try with my children. It is called GET-B12™ Spray and it is part of a protocol from Dr. Amy Yasko and her husband Ed Yasko. I am not interested in doing the whole protocol but thought there might be benefit in just taking the B-12 which appears to be a spray specifically for children. I was just wondering if anybody was familiar with this or the doctor. Would love some feedback. Thanks so much.
Guest guest
, I am not familiar with this doctor, but my son has taken B-12 sublingual 2500 mcg twice a day for sveral years. It seems to help him focus. My mother who is 91 was told by her neurologist to take it to help with focus and memory. The B-12 spray is similar in nature to the sublinguals. For us it was of benefit to our son. Regards, Glenda > > Hi All, > > > > My mother in law found some info on a B-12 supplement that she is interested > in having me try with my children. Guest guest
Dr. Amy is quite amazing. Cannot say enough positive things about her. Just attended her 3 day conference here in LA. USUALLY methyl B-12 is beneficial for MOST people as it is used up SO much during the methylation and detox pathways. However, you might want to join her discussion group just to make sure your child's "symptoms" sound as if he/she needs methyl donors as some genetic mutations do not do well with methyl donors. Guest guest
We have been using the B-12 Shots for a few years with our son and it has made a big difference in his joint attention and language. I had very little success with oral or nasal B-12. I have heard some good things about the B-12 patches but because the shots are the slowest releasing and most absorbable form we go that route. Guest guest
We did the Mb-12 injections for a year and saw some increase in language, but it was not significant to continue. He also became more hyper on them. However, I have heard of many children who have greatly benefited from it, each child is different and the only way to know if it works for your child is to give it a fair trial of at least 5 weeks. Dr. Yasko has a very intensive protocol which involves a lot of steps and continual testing, if you can afford it she has a great reputation. You can learn more about MB12 on Dr. Neubrander's website, he pioneered the use of MB12 injections and has a lot of information and testamonies on his site: http://www.drneubrander.com/ There are other oral Methyl donors like DMG and TMG, my child responded best to TMG (DMG made him an emotional mess). It depends on the child's genetic makeup. My son has two of the genetic mutations for MTHFR which cause methylation issues. You can get a prescription from any Dan Dr. here in Florida, and the injections themselves are not an expensive intervention to do, its just the administering of them that is hard to get used to. Guest guest
As a child I received daily injections for allergys and it was a pretty traumatic ordeal. Can't even imagine subjecting my aspie to the same. Guest guest
Thanks for all the feedback Shiri but I didn’t think the B-12 they were suggesting was an injectable. I think it is a spray. As it sounds you have experience with this doctor…do you know which it is? And is the spray effective? Guest guest
This also is helpful…my last response had concern as to whether the spray would be effective. I want it to be worth the time and money. I know each child is different but it is helpful to know benefit was gained from other routes other than injections for someone. Encourages me to give it a try. Thanks! J. Guest guest
Yes, we also did the Methyl B12 Nasal spray, which was created by Stan Kurtz (www.StanKurtz.com) as his son Ethan was a non responder to the injections. Then, we switched over to the Methyl B12 lollipops, also created by Stan. I sell them on my website www.KaizenRecoveryCenter.com as I am friends with Stan. Dr. Amy prefers Hydroxy B-12 as opposed to Methyl B12 though, and she is so amazingly smart. Yes, Shiri is right in that Dr. Amy's protocol and testing regimen is not for the faint of heart (or those on a tight budget) . I suggest going to her websites www.holisticheal.com and www.holistichealth.com and order her books and dvd package for 54$ and learn a little more so that you can make an educated choice. We do well with the lollipops, and I am so happy to be able to give my kids a treat that is good for them, but like I said, if methyl donors are an issue in his/her current genetics, then you may need to add other supplements first. Guest guest
It is the same small, thin needle used for injecting insulin, kids with Diabetes use. I've used it on myself its no less than a pinch, its more the anticipation of it that bothers them. If something has the possibility of helping kids that have a legitimate genetic mutation that might benefit from a treatment then its worth a try, IMO. Unfortunately not enough is know about who is a good candidate to be a responder. But there are many who do respond. You can try the spray and lollipops, I've heard there is a really good transdermal cream that works well. The problem with Oral MB-12 is that is not well absorbed in the gut by our children, and it can cause yeast flares. Guest guest
Hi Ida, Well, specifically, the mutations in the MTR, MTRR, MTHFR, and CBS gene. I know there are several others as well but will have to go back through my notes. I do not know if you are familiar at all with Dr. Amy's work, but have included quite a bit of info for you and others to look over. In a nutshell, there are certain genetic mutations that render us to be "undermethylators" or "overmethylators". Usually, if we try to supply methyl donors such as methyl b12, DMG or TMG, etc. to ourselves or our kids, but we notice increased aggression, anxiety, etc., then this may be a sign that they might have this gene mutaion that means they already have enough methyl donors but that they are not being utilized properly, and that is what needs to be repaired. Conversely, many children have a leak in the tub as Dr. Amy describes it, and their methyl donors are leaking out of their bodies due to mal absorption or under utilization. Realistically, the best way to know this without a doubt is to at least do the CH3 testing with Dr.Amy. Last I checked it was only around $425. It certainly sheds new light on the more antiquated way of healing where many doctors just tell us to "try" this supplement or that supplement. Her program is certainly desined for the individual make up of the person. I hope that helps. It's just her work is SO scientific, and I do not want to say anything that is not precisely correct. Does that make sense? Look over some of the attachments, and jump in on the discussion group. There are "veteran" moms and dads on there that can help alot. http://www.holisticheal.com/media/downloads/guide-to-nutrigenomic-testing.pdf http://www.dramyyasko.com/resources/webisodes/ http://www.enzymestuff.com/methylation.htm http://www.vsan.org/rok-az/methylation/Genetic_Analysis_Report_summary_sheet_1.pdf http://phylliswheeler.com/CuringAutismBlog/?page_id=2 Blessings, Wanda http://www.ch3nutrigenomics.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=91995 & sid=a2db886749a1cd0bf23b3364d503d008 http://www.holisticheal.com/media/downloads/guide-to-nutrigenomic-testing.pdf B-12 for kids > > > > > > > Hi All, > > My mother in law found some info on a B-12 supplement that she is interested in having me try with my children. Guest guest
Me and my child take the B-12 shots and I can tell you from experience that you do not even feel the needle. The B-12 burns a little bit at the spot of injection but the needle is virtually undetectable. Re: B-12 for kids It is the same small, thin needle used for injecting insulin, kids with Diabetes use.
