Guest guest
Sunday night- about 9pm Barby has been moved to a regular private room on the 6th floor - #6421. Her NG tube was removed about 2 hours ago. She still has some back pain from surgery & is experiencing pain where the surgical drains are inserted in her side. She is not experiencing pain from the actual surgical wounds. They may be taken out tomorrow AM and at that time she may be allowed to begin a clear diet. As of now she is still NPO. --- only ice chips. She is improving quickly - has spent large amounts of time in the chair - reading news papers & even looking thru her e-mails. I am spending the night with her tonight. Mona plans to stay tomorrow & two of Barb's college friends (Linell & Sandy) will be staying on Tuesday night. She is running a very low grade fever - no one seems concerned. Her blood sugar remains close to normal. Her room is a corner suite with a view of the Plaza - Christmas lights & all.... with a guest bed & work desk, along with a lounge chair & a bed that continually adjusts the contours one rests on, with air, to prevent fatigue.... pretty cool! They even provide snacks, etc for guests upon request! What more could one ask for multi thousand dollar per night penthouse suite! Her nursing staff is good, but she hardly sees them, unless she rings her buzzer. Not quite the one on one service of the ICU. Will update later when there if more to say.
