Guest guest
Monday - 9am All of Barby's IV's have failed. The IV team attempted to insert a pic line in her arm and failed. She will be scheduled to go to radiology to have a pic line inserted later today. Her doctor has not yet been in to see her today. It is anticipated that when he/she comes in that Barby will be allowed to begin a clear diet. She's looking forward to getting off of ice chips. She's walking longer & more frequently - a force of will over pain to speed her recovery. Barby's recovery still seems to be advancing well & without any complications (other than the IV's). Barby's veins have always been extremely difficult to penetrate & have given dozens of nurses & techs fits...leading to a phobia within Barby, as she has been forced to endure failed attempts of probing needles fruitlessly searching for a point of penetration into unyielding veins. Barby has encountered considerable swelling throughout her body, but we are told that is normal - especially with the large doses of prednisone. Her prednisone dose has been tapered by 25% - having begun @ 80mg. & now @ 60mg. She seems to forget she has a pain button, except when she gets up for a walk or to use the restroom. Thanks for your continued prayers
