Guest guest
Hi All, For about 6 months I've had pain (to various degrees) in my elbow and/or the muscles in my lower arm near my elbow. Does anyone know if PSC could be the cause? Might sound like a crazy question, but it seems like we can blame most about anything on PSC. Washington, DC Be a better pen pal. Guest guest
Hi -- For nearly a year, I had joint pain, particularly in my knees and shoulders. I wrote it off as just another piece of the PSC progression pie. Everything seemed to be worse when I was fatigued, so I associated that with PSC as well. Then, I developed severe recurring eye infections that wouldn't respond to any treatment. As a last resort, I started Remicade infusions. Remicade is a powerful biologic drug that is primarily used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It's also used for severe UC/Crohns flareups. Within a day after the first infusion, not only had my eye cleared up, but my joints didn't hurt anymore. The bottom line. It might make sense to see a rheumatologist for an arthritis workup. Or, at the very least, have a couple blood tests: Sed rate and C-Reactive Protein. For me, those numbers were greater than 5x normal before the Remicade, indicating rheumatoid arthritis. I don't know if there is a scientifically proven link between joint problems and PSC. All I can say is that I have the same issues, and I was able to get some relief. Guest guest
Thanks Tom, It's been pretty minor, and I chalked it up to too much typing on the old computer, but your advice sounds good. I thought I heard somewhere that this sort of inflamation can crop up anywhere - thought that might have been regarding UC. In any case I guess it can't hurt to see another doctor! Thanks! P.S. Does the group think this is a " common " thing for PSC (whether there is a " proven link " or not)? > > > > Hi All, > > > > For about 6 months I've had pain (to various degrees) in my elbow > and/or the muscles in my lower arm near my elbow.
