Guest guest
Dr. Schadde came in to see Barby over lunch & stated that all of her numbers are still looking very good & she is still on track for leaving on Friday. will stay with Barby tonight & tomorrow. Daren Nigis & Mona Benteman will sit with Barby Thursday evening. will return Friday morning & take her home when dismissed later in the day. Some of the swelling is beginning to go down. She is still struggling to keep her pain under control. She frequently ignores her pain medication until she gets behind & then spends an uncomfortable 30-45 min while the new dose of percocet takes effect. She is reading & spending time on the computer. Her final drain bag was removed today. Her walks are at an increasingly quicker pace (still slow by healthy standards, but getting faster each time out). She walks about every 4 hours through the day. In short, she continues to be a " remarkable " patient. Anyone wishing to help out with meals when Barby returns home should contact online at aspentopeka@... or at the home phone at 267-2018 or my cell phone at 220-2661. Tomorrow we will receive our post hospitilization schedule - which will include multiple weekly visits over several weeks - to be tapered over a 6 month period. Thus, we will continue to be closely tied to KU for several weeks until they are satisfied with the balance of medications and function of the liver. After that time Barby will be able to have her laps drawn in Topeka. Barby expresses her deep appreciation for all those in Topeka & around the world who have taken an interest in her progress.
