Guest guest
I need to know what the best pro biotic is for My 5 Yr old. He was recently on 2 consecutive Doses of antibiotics for strep and p.a.n.d.a.s and is now not eating and Complaining of nauseousnos and tired all the Time. I will be taking him to his Gastro but in the mean Time I've been giving him florastor but I don't think It's the best kind. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Debbie
Guest guest
You can have your Dr. write a script for VSL DS (double strength). It is the best probiotic out there but available by prescription only. Also, Kirkmans ProBio Gold is a great probiotic as well. Pro biotics? Guest guest
kirkman Super Pro Bio is pretty good, but you need to go on the website or call them directly. I believe it's www.kirkmanlabs.com. They have supplements that are free of heavy metals, gluten, soy, etc. if your child has allergies. Also, 's Aloe Vera Juice is great for the stomach. YOu can find it at Whole Foods Market or other health food stores, such as Tunies in Coral Springs on Coral Ridge Drive and Westview Dr. Hope that helps. Guest guest
VSL is much to strong and should be used for ulcerative colitis or IBS only. My daughter took it for other reasons and she became so bloated and uncomfortable. Florastor is good for after antibiotic use for young children. Hope that info helps! Guest guest
I agree the VSL3 is much too strong. It's appropriate for a Crohn's profile. Klaire's Therabiotic Complete has 9 different strains including antibiotic usage. Klaire labs specializes in products designed for GI issues/leaky gut. It's an excellent probiotic for children on the spectrum. VSL is much to strong and should be used for ulcerative colitis or IBS only. Guest guest
It depends on the patient's needs. That is why VSL can only be obtained with a prescription. My son does not have ulcerative colitis but VSL has been really great for him. He producess very little of the normal/beneficial bacterias he should have in his gut. > > VSL is much to strong and should be used for ulcerative colitis or IBS only. Guest guest
My child has been using VSL for two years now with no ill affects. It is the only pro biotic that keeps his yeast and bacteria at bay. It is extremely strong however, we started by just taking about a 1/4 of a pack a day and SLOWLY worked up to 2 packs a day. It was originally designed for colitis but works great for all gut issues. Also, my insurance covers it so it only cost me a 10$ copay as versus about 80 bucks a month for the pro bio gold. Nothing but upsides for us. Pro biotics? I need to know what the best pro biotic is for My 5 Yr old.
