Guest guest
Thank you both Arne and for your responses. I've ordered the UltraThistle, and do intend to talk to my hepatologist about increasing my Urso dose at my next appointment. For anyone who has had stents placed, balloon dilations, and brushing of the ducts during an ERCP... Did you have pain after the procedure? How long did the pain last? How long did you have the burps after the procedure? I've had a lot of pain, ranging in strength from a 5 to an 8 or so, since the procedure. It gets worse when I eat, and comes in waves that last for a few seconds, then subside; I also have a ton of gas still coming back up after being blown up like a balloon (the ERCP was on Monday). I've been in close contact with the docs about it, have been seen by my PCP, and had bloodwork done to rule out pancreatitis. They want me to come in for a CT scan if this continues through the weekend, because they say I shouldn't be having this much pain. After examining all of my symptoms and trying to examine the quality of the pain, this is starting to seem to me like a partial bowel obstruction that just unfortunately coincided with the procedure. Any thoughts? Just wondering about your experiences.

Whenever I've had a stent, I have been extremely uncomfortable throughout Right Upper Quadrant until after the stent has been removed. I couldn't stand to wear anything with a waistband at all!!!! Usually it was just a very deep aching that wouldn't let me find a comfortable position no matter how much I wriggled, but there were a few times with sharper pains, though brief. My GERD (reflux) got much worse following all the endoscopies, due to the repeated irritation and inflammation of tubes going up and down my throat and through my stomach. My stents stayed in for about 6 or 7 weeks; after just a few more days, I was able to tolerate waistbands again.
