There are files & links with good info, too.Steroids can be good to reduce inflammation, though I'm not sure how many use them for Vestibulitis - but you do have to be careful - as they can have the potential to thin the skin.Estrace cream is estrogen cream. It's been helpful for several of us. It has done wonders for my vulvar skin. I'll send in some info for you to look at. Guest guest
Thank you all for the welcoming words. Chelle - I'll look for your email about Estrace and I'll talk to my doctor about that....(I did a search on it and looks as if it's also a prescribed ointment?). Regarding the prescribing of hormones for vestibilitus -- it appears from previous emails in this stream that others have also had that prescribed. I would love to know about alternative options that different women have used. i don't have extreme pain but I definitely do feel it during sex and have a hard time using tampons. This has been going on for some time so at least for now -- since the birth of my daughter four years ago. For now, even though I don't have a grip on the solution, it's good that the issue has been identified. Thanks again, A > > Hi Anita, > > Welcome to the group! Guest guest
Welcome Anita, I use a low-potency steriod cream mixed with Hydrocortisone called Pramasone. I only use this when I feel an itch coming on and it helps subside the itch. Otherwise, I would start itching like a maniac and make it a whole lot worse for myself. I'm prone to vaginal infections and have atopic dermatitis and irritant dermatitis so I use it for that too. Oh by the way I have Vulvar Vestibulitis and I use estradiol (brand name estrace) compunded in emu oil which is very soothing to one's very sensitive skin. I would ask your OBGYN to refer you to a Vulvar Specialist, since he doesn't know how to treat this chronic condition besides giving you an RX for clobetasol. My OBGYN told me the treatments are unsuccessful and there's not a lot of research being done. I drove home that day crying because I didn't know what to do and was terrified! So I did as you did, lots of research and joined a couple support groups, if it wasn't for these lovely women, I would've lost my darn mind. ~~ Re: Vulvar Vestibulitis - Anita Hi Anita, Welcome to the group!
