Temple Grandin, who will be a Keynote Speaker at the USAAA 5th Annual Conference, will be attending the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday, August 29th. Temple will share her Emmy night with all of us at the USAAA Conference in St. Louis, October 1-3.

"Lights, Camera, Action" at the Emmy Awards. With thousands of people, bright lights, thunderous applauds, loud music, the constant clicking and flashing of cameras by the paparazzi, for over four hours in downtown Los Angeles - Is this sensory overload? Maybe not for many of us, but for at least one honored guest, who is affected by autism, it just might be.

Temple Grandin will share with us, for the first time, her incredible Emmy Awards experience when she presents at the US Autism & Asperger Association 5th Annual Conference, October 2nd at the Hilton St. Louis Airport Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri. We will be showing the movie, "Temple Grandin", Friday night, October 1st. On Saturday, October 2nd, in addition to Temple's Keynote Address, she will also participate in a Self-Advocacy Panel Workshop.

Larry Kaplan, CEO of USAAA, spoke with Temple last week, and she said she was very exited to be attending the Emmy Awards and was thrilled to share her experience with all of us at the USAAA conference!

The HBO Movie, "Temple Grandin" was nominated for 15 Emmy Awards. "In her autobiography, Thinking in Pictures: My Life With Autism, Temple Grandin explains that she values positive, measurable results more than emotion," said Alessandra Stanley. "The HBO movie 'Temple Grandin' honors its heroine's priorities, stressing deeds over tearful setbacks and joyous breakthroughs."

Silverstein said about the HBO movie, "Claire Danes has a found a role where she is beyond great, she is stupendous. Claire Danes is revelatory as Temple Grandin animal behaviorist, best-selling author, autistic and expert in autism. This is a fascinating movie and I learned so much about this woman and about autism. Temple did not speak until she was four and if not for her mother would have probably ended up spending her life in an institution. What a loss that would have been."

The movie has already won two Emmy Awards. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) last week awarded the 2009-2010 Creative Arts Primetime Emmy Awards for programs and individual achievements. The movie, "Temple Grandin", won an Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score) and an Emmy for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Miniseries or a Movie.
