Guest guest
(((Jeanne))) I have never taken that drug before *but* I can sympathize and empathize about the drunk buzzed feeling when I took my first few Lyrica and then when I went up in dosage! My DH was watching me almost horror-struck because I was stumbling and bumbling around. Told him it was the meds and they would ease up. I hope your bad aftertaste does too. Do you have to wait to eat/drink anything or would perhaps a peppermint (thinking altoid here) be sufficient to cover up that taste for you? Just trying to think aloud a little....I do that from time to time.... (((Hugs))) Darlene > > I feel kinda buzzed, and I have an awful taste in my mouth. The mouth taste is listed as a side effect, hope it passes in time. I know I shouldn't complain, and I'm not really, just sharing what I'm feeling. Kinda like I'm drunk, a little dizzy. > Jeanne in WI > >
Guest guest
Thanks Darlene. I had my daughter pick me up some sugar free Life Savers. I was craving the five flavors kind. Had a couple last night. Happily, I don't notice the taste as much today. Yay! The drunk/buzzed feeling is a little scary because it felt like a " high " at first. I could see how someone might easily abuse this med without careful monitoring. Yikes! Guest guest
Jeanne, I too am overweight (I think my BMI would classify me between obese and morbidly obese), some from the meds (I'm sure), some from the fact that I have metabolic disorder. My endocrinologist has put me on glucophage (sp?) 2x a day which is helping with the sugar issue due to the 'roids, but it has an added benefit of assisting with weight loss too. If I wasn't so darned swollen from the edema and puffy from the 'roids, it would be a lot more evident that since the first of the year I'm down about 30-40 lbs. Plus, the endo put me on a carb monitoring diet which is pretty easy to follow - 50 carbs or less per meal (3 a day), 15 carbs (or thereabouts) per snack (3 a day). My breakfast and lunch carbs are usually less than 50 so my last snack is usually a little more so I can buff up my fiber to help with other issues.....lol. I have slowly increased my fruits and veggies and actually most mornings drink a created protein shake that is too soon to tell (my impatience again), but I think its keeping me fuller...... ((((Hugs)))) Darlene > > Thanks for you input, Krystal. I am not ADD of ADHD, but my doc and I are striving to increase my energy level. Provigil was working OK at 200 mg. a day, but it did not help to go up to 400 mg. a day. I'm trying to get to the place where I have the energy to shower, do minor chores, and go out to the store if I want to. So that is the goal. Losing my appetite would be a good thing as I am morbidly obese. I am starting at 10 mg. a day and will increase to 20 mg. after a week or if I need longer I will take longer before I increase. > Jeanne in WI > > > My my son takes adderall Xr 5mg capsules and my husband takes adderall 10mg tablets. What are you on? They usually start with 5mg and work their way up. They both take it for ADHD. Is that why you are taking > it. I remember reading your previous post but do not remember what you were taking it for lol. Adderall is a stimulant like crack for instance or Caffiene and with people with ADHD it calms them down so they can focus better. It has a tendancy of you loosing your appeitite but if you think it is helping please ensure you eat no matter how you feel. People often lose weight from it. But it helps most keep focused. I learned this from my childs doctor. Good Luck to you > > Krystal > > >
Guest guest
Darlene, Keep watch on your glucophage. I ended up having a problem with it and a lot of people I know. Then they had to switch to another med. For med it became dangerous. It did work for about a year. It also could interact with the bazillion meds I take although they say not.
