Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself as I have been lurking, well more like trying to keep up with messages for the past 6 months or so. My name is Aly, I am 29, mother of 2, one my own(my 7yo daughter Lilly, one my boyfriends (his 8yo son ). I live with my b/f of 4yrs north of Philadelphia, PA. We also have 3 animals. Our Siberian Husky Meeko, and two cats, A red tabby Persian named Quentin, but who is nicknamed Fatness b/c of his fur and huge belly. And a blue lynx point Himalayan that I used to show named ial but nicknamed skinny chicken(I shave him when my pain does not allow me to keep up with their coats, and he looks like a skinny plucked chicken when he has barely any fur). I was only diagnosed with FM about 8 months ago but have been with chronic pain for 5 years now. My pain started when I was T-boned by a drunk driver who ran a red light. I suffered disk herniations and major back/neck trauma and have had two surgeries so far, titanium steel rods on my lower back and a cervical fusion on my neck. I'm shrinking as the fusion sets in it seems, I was 5'10 now I'm really close to 5'8. I have enjoyed what I have read on this group, I also belong to one other flyingwithfibro. It is a support group for fibro but also on using www.flylady.com for those of us who can barely do housework. Flylady helps you set up routines doing only 15minutes or less at a time. I have recently had to get a job with some sort of income and work retail at the moment until I can find something I will enjoy and pay well. Going through pain and one more thing going wrong as soon as we fixed one problem on my body has sent me through whirlwinds of depression that are extremely rough. I try hard to not take my frustrations out on my kids and bf who are wonderful and try to be understanding. I have pain in my neck that has gotten worse since the surgery, Pain and numbness that runs from my shoulders to my fingertips, I feel like my joints are on fire sometimes. Since I started to work again I've had more energy but also more pain in my lower back, hips and just recently my knees. So there is a little bit about me. I hope to get to know all of you better and if anyone would like to chat, feel free to send me an IM. Thanks for listening Aly

Welcome Aly! This flyingwithfibro sounds cool. I've seen so many people really upset when they can't zoom through and clean in one big push anymore. It might be just the ticket to help them to break things down where they're working in shorter stints. Z

Guest guest
Hi Aly, I'm glad you decided to post. Welcome to the group. I'm sorry you have been dx with fibromyalgia, but am glad you joined the support group. It must be hard to be raising two young children while you are in pain. It took me a long time to be dx too. I am Marti and live in Connecticut so we're not that far apart. I live alone, but have grown children and several grandchildren, the oldest being 6. They are a job. I am 59 and was dx with fibro in 1990 after two years of trying to find out what was wrong with me. I feel lucky that I had so many years to enjoy a pain free active live before getting fibro. I was 40 and my kids were in high school. Looking forward to getting to know you, Marti : Hello Everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself as I have been lurking, well more like trying to keep up with messages for the past 6 months or so.
